19-100 Delicate (butterfly lino print)
This delicate yet somehow strong and wily butterfly was being buffeted by the wind against a metal farm gate. It looked as though it would get harmed. I spied it while out walking and thought I might help to save it - while also hesitant to touch it and ruin it's wings. The clever thing saved itself and flew away!
Now I save it too, as a small run lino print for your enjoyment, the minimal colour present being the dusky red spots. There are 4 prints only.
This is an ideal gift for someone to acknowledge while they may seem fragile (even to themself sometimes) they have strength and wisdom well beyond appearances. It would be great placed above a computer screen or mirror, or beside their bed, somewhere where it will be often seen :)
[Check out the second image, and the picture and headline of the newspaper underneath where I was rolling out the ink. Coincidence, wow! Love it!]
This is a small, limited series (not technically an edition) totalling 4 minimally hand coloured AP (Artist Proof) prints only. If you love owning and/or gifting bold art pieces that just 4 other people on the entire planet will have, this is for you!
I make limited edition lino prints by first carving a design into a piece of linoleum, then rolling the lino with ink, and then pressing this onto paper.
Once I’ve created the lines, I do all my colouring with Winsor and Newton Artists’ Watercolours. When creating my original art, I use Archival quality watercolour paper, usually 100% cotton Arches paper from France.
The dimensions of this image are about 18cm x 18cm (approx 7" x 7"), and there is ample paper around that for mounting and framing. Good framing adds around 10 - 12cm (5") on all sides, more at the bottom.
I recommend ordering Unframed if it's coming to you via the postal service/s - this saves us both money on postage, and gives you the chance to support a local framing artisan, too. [Hesitant to manage framing locally? Download my new art collectors introduction to the basics.]
If you meet me at a market stall to pick up, I can arrange professional framing for you in about 2-3 weeks.
Love Meg x o
