A Veritable Garden - hand coloured limited edition lino print

$175.00 Regular price $195.00

I've been intrigued by our gastrointestinal systems ever since as a young mother I became aware of how sugar and antibiotics were impacting on my family's digestive tracts. Recently my need to follow a low FODMAP diet has shown again the importance of gut health. Does this intrigue you too?

I wanted to make a lino print honouring the importance of healthy digestion. For a while though, I was stuck on how to show what I wanted to show. Then I heard the eco system of our small intestines referred to as a "veritable garden", which cleared the picture for me and inspired an abdomen cross-section image.

've undertaken this with a cup and a half of artistic license - our internal flora and fauna are of course microscopic!

This is a perfect picture for a conservatory or hall way, anywhere it will remind you of the un-seen, important goings on within!

This is a set of printers proofs, each labelled with PP. The merely 5 prints in this whole series are also unique Watercolour paintings. If you love owning and/or gifting bold art pieces that only 4 other people on the entire planet will ever have, this is for you!

I make limited edition lino prints by first carving a design into a piece of linoleum, then rolling the lino with ink, and then pressing this onto paper.
Once I’ve created the lines, I do all my colouring with Winsor and Newton Artists’ Watercolours. When creating my original art, I use Archival quality watercolour paper, usually 100% cotton Arches paper from France.

The dimensions of this image are about 30cm x 30cm (12" x 12"), and there is ample paper around that for mounting and framing. Good framing adds around 10 - 12cm (5") on all sides, more at the bottom.

These are shipped nude (ie. unframed) - this saves us both money on postage, and you can support your local framing artisan. If you can meet me at an art market locally, message me and we can talk about framing.

PP1, PP2 sold. Available: PP3, PP4 and PP5.
